Midlands Community College provides a unique, residential programme that gives students a second chance to upgrade their Grade 12 results in maths and science in order to be accepted into their desired field of tertiary education.
THE CHALLENGE
South Africa is not producing sufficient school leavers who are competent in mathematics and science. In 2018, 51.9% of Grade 12 candidates passed maths while 62.6% passed physical science. We seek to help improve this situation because maths and science are critical to any country’s innovation, economic development and global competitiveness.
