In 2026, Midlands Community College launched its Alumni Tracking and Connection initiative in an effort to reconnect with former students, celebrate their journeys, and strengthen the growing MCC alumni network. Shortly after putting out the call, we received an inspiring story from one of our alumni, Mbambo Ntandoyenkosi, who wrote to us saying, “MCC class of 2020, matriculated at Greytown Secondary School in 2018 Attended MCC 2020 (left pic), admitted with level 4 (50%) – Mathematics; level 4 (51%) – Physical Science; Level 6 (71%) – Life Science After MCC Mathematics – 75%; Physical Science – 72%; Life Science – 88%. An overall, 5 APS point increase Enrolled with the University of the Western Cape( top right pic) in 2021 and did a BSc. An opportunity came, I got a learnership at uMvoti Municipality, got hired as a Trainee Traffic Officer, enrolled at Mangaung Traffic Training College in Bloemfontein, and graduated with a Basic Traffic Officer’s Diploma in June 2025. Currently working as a Traffic Officer in Greytown (bottom right pic). Thank you, MCC, proudly an Alumni!!!”

Andile Nxumalo – Turning a Second Chance into Success

In 2019, Andile did not meet the initial entrance criteria for the programme she wanted due to her Maths results, but her determination stood out. She chose to upgrade her Maths and Science, her results improved dramatically, and she soon emerged as one of our most committed students. She pushed forward and completed a BSc in Biochemistry and Chemistry in 2021. Today, Andile is back at Midlands Community College as our Mobile Lab Technician, using her skills to support the next generation of learners.
